June 2009 BEM Empty
PostSubject: June 2009 BEM   June 2009 BEM EmptyMon Jun 15, 2009 9:49 am

Our pupils have just taken their BEM exam and are expecting the results soon. They experienced good and not good moments during a very hard, boring and long school year. So, we did. They'll forget about everything just after two or three weeks. We won't because we are caught, as teachers in a collimator and we need to do the cited action to survive:

"The question paper critique".

1- Are the questions at the level?
2- Is the text wisely selected?
3- Is the format adequate?
4- What has been too hard?
5- How did the examinees react?
6- Do they concord with what we did in class?
7- Who has put the questions?
8- Who has corrected them?

…. And many other questions.

The most important thing is to draw teachings to use for the future.

Read the questions or download here:

Read the official correction:

Bring your critique.

Here is mine:

Be Positive.

Thanks.

Salam!

Many thanks for the work you've done. It's really great to criticize so objectively and in such a manner that makes everyone understand on what bases the critique is made.

You've tackled everything and I personally share your view for most activities. I have some remarks to make:

- There are no wh-QQS because they are not mentioned in the official layout of the BEM exam.
- Activity One / section One:
The third sentence can be inferred and answered with 'True' and this disturbs the good pps.
- Activity Two / Section One:
The word unsuccessful could be avoided because here the pps are tested on two things at the same time: vocabulary and compehension of the text. I would prefer the word failure or successful.
- I think that the items comprised in the third activity/Section One are at the reach of MS4 PPS. All the words are part of the official syllabus. Of course, not all pps have done this activity successfully, and this is the challenge.
- Activity Two/ Section Two:
To not have to and to not respect are npt correct. instead:
not to have and not to respect.

Apart from this, everything is OK. The text is really very interesting and very well adapted. The situation of integration is normally at the reach of the pps....BUT the problem is that only the good not to say excellent pps were able to do this activity successfully.

A lot is to say about English in Algeria.
To train the pps to write occurately and correctly requires many things to be done!
Three hours a week, with an overloaded program...with the lack of methodical ways ....

To train the pps to write requires too much time and good training.

I hope we can do something with the sit. of integration...
I requires some sacrifice and a good preparation. I really wish we can do something for teachers and pps. This need the contribution of all.
First, some situations should be prepared and I think that some agreement should be reached among teachers.

Better late than never.

Thanks a million for your attention.

Salam!

Being able to work and teach English abroad
at home gives me more time with loved ones. Whether I’m working and make money online
in the same room as my fiancée or in the next room, just being “near by” is enough to make me feel more comfortable.
And since I can travel and visit family and work at the same time, it’s a perfect situation to be with everyone and not lose out on how to teach English online and get money
