SILENT LETTERS.
Lesson: can be done in class as group work or outdoor as a research activity.
Material:- Oxford Dictionaries.
- cards.
AIM: help learners acquire competency in pronouncing words containing silent letters.
Preparation:
Teacher prepares the cards to be used. Ready to use ones are on:

Procedure:
Teacher gives a number of cards to a group.
Instruction:
1- Look up the words in the dictionary tehn copy the phonetic transcription.
Learners do. example: knit / nit / limb / lim /
2- Copy the word on your sheet then cross the silent letter.
Learners do. example : knit (cross k) etc...
3- Read the words many times. Be careful to the silent letter.
Feedback: get the learners talk about their learning: the silent letters.
Possible feedback:
Learner: in listen; we don't read the letter 't'.
Teacher: Why?
Learner: this letter is silent. We write it but we don't pronounce it.
Teacher: Good job. Thank you.
